BUTUAN CITY, May 19 (PNA) -- Joint Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) and Butuan City Police Office personnel arrested at least 26 undocumented Chinese nationals working in small-scale gold mining projects in two barangays of this city Wednesday morning, police said.
Initial official report from Butuan City Police office to Caraga Police regional office said the foreign nationals only possessed temporary visitors’ visa but were caught in the act of working and settling at Barangays Bilay and Maibu here, known for its small-scale mining.
Police and immigration agents from Manila identified the Chinese nationals as; Liu Wei; Meiqiang Feng; Hong Chao Chen; Rongze Cai; Jie Ma; Shouzhong Xu; Fayou Wang; Liliu Jiang; Zhiwei Chen; Wei Jiang; Yong Zhong Wu; Zhiyang Zheng; Lihua Zheng; Youmei Wen; Hongfu Chen; Shaohua Kong; YU Cao; Shangbing Li; Jinsong Cheng; Haitao Kong; Anmin Yang; Jiaobai Shi; Hong You Chen; Bingying Chen; Xiarong Kong and Hsu Yi-Chen.
They were found to have no legal documents to work and to stay in the country for long.
Police said they are now in custody with the BID agents and will be brought to Manila.
Although under hazardous landslide prone areas declared by government, alleged unabated rampant illegal mining still on-going. (PNA)
