PIDDIG, Ilocos Norte – Residents of this town, who have legal concerns on land ownership and other disputes, were able to seek advice from lawyers for free.
As part of the "Law Week" celebration, members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), Ilocos Norte Chapter, led by lawyer Cherrie Grace Bareng-Asistin, gave free legal aid to at least 20 individuals, mostly farmers, here Wednesday.
IBP-Ilocos Norte has been reaching out to various towns in the province to promote justice through the rule of law.
Asistin said they welcome all Ilocos Norte residents who are in need of legal services.
During the outreach program, several residents were also able to avail of free notarial services.
In Ilocos Norte, land ownership is among the most common dispute among relatives.
Aside from the IBP, the Public Attorney’s Office in Laoag also offers free legal services but not many residents are aware of and are taking advantage of this. (PNA)
