Hurt by Firecrackers in Pangasinan
« on: January 02, 2011, 07:56:39 AM »
By Leonardo V. Micua

Hospital authorities in Pangasinan rejoiced because the number of firecracker explosions they treated up to noontime of New Year’s Day was much lower than last year’s and even the previous revelry.

At least 26 victims of firecracker explosions were tallied by the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) as of 12 noon on New Year’s Day, much fewer than what was registered by the same hospital in last year’s revelry.

The figure reflected the injuries for the whole province of Pangasinan since the countdown of the Department of Health’s “Oplan: Iwas Paputok” began Dec. 21, 2010.

There were 48 victims of firecracker explosions last year for the same period. At least 11 of these had their hands or fingers amputated.

Dr. Michael Canto, spokesperson of R1MC, attributed the much lower injuries this year to the success of “Oplan: Iwas Paputok” program that appealed on the consciousness of parents to rein in their children from going out in streets to witness the revelry. - pna

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
