A housemaid who was employed for only five hours robbed her employer of some half a million pesos worth of cash and valuables in San Andres Bukid, Manila, the Manila Police District (MPD) said on Wednesday.
The MPD launched a hunt against Mia Mendoza, a native of Mulanay, Quezon following the complaint of her employer Leonora Manansala, 60, a trader of 2084 Batangas Line, San Andres Bukid, Manila.
Chief Inspector Benigno Macalindong, chief of the MPD-Theft and Robbery Section, said the suspect was hired upon referral of housemaid- recruiter identified as Amalia Ruda, also a native of Aurora, Quezon last Jan. 21, 2009 at 9 a.m.
Manansala told probers that she personally knew Ruda, she accepted the house helper on that day.
After several minutes, the victim left the house to fetch her grandchildren from the school. The suspect was left alone in the house.
When the victim returned home after fetching her grandchildren, the suspect was nowhere to be found. She discovered that her closet was forcibly opened and her cash and valuables were missing.
The suspect left her two plastic bags of clothes but carted away her employer’s cash and valuables.
“She is only employed for five hours when she committed the robbery,†she told probers. - PNA
