Tension gripped a residential area in Manila's Tondo district late Saturday after a man took his four children hostage, a radio report said.
Radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported that the father, who was not immediately named, was still negotiating with police as of 6:30 p.m.
One of the four children was reported injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.
A Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team surrounded the area along Quiricada Street and near Jose Abad Santos Street.
