COTABATO CITY -- Police authorities in North Cotabato have appealed to the public to take precautionary measures to avoid highway accidents that have continued to increase.
Supt. Bernard Tayong, speaking for the North Cotabato police office, made the appeal in a radio interview following a series of four highway accidents along the Cotabato–Davao highway that killed three people and injured six others the past two days.
The latest fatality was a police officer assigned with the Provincial Police Public Safety Company along the Kabacan – Carmen section of the highway.
Police Officer 3 Florant Jay Galas Jalipa II of Pigcawayan, North Cotabato, was killed after his motorbike collided with a dump truck at the stretch of the highway along the Kabacan-Carmen route.
Before that, two occupants of a van died when their vehicle turned turtle in Barangay Sudapin, Kidapawan City on Monday night.
About the same time, six other persons were hurt in a separate highway accident in Makilala, North Cotabato.
All these accidents transpired in the evening, Tayong noted. “Thus, we remind our motorists to be careful, especially at night,” he said. (PNA)
