2 'shabu' pushers in watchlist nabbed in Koronadal City
GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Jan. 12 (PNA) -- Anti-drug agents arrested two alleged pushers included in the drug watchlist in a buy-bust operation in Koronadal City late Wednesday night.
Kathryn Abad, public information officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 12, identified the suspects as Mark Vincent Valencia alias Berting, 33, and Rene Campomanes, 37, both residents of Barangay Zone I, Koronodal City.
She said the two were arrested at around 9 p.m. in the vicinity of Purok La Trinidad in Barangay Zone I after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to a PDEA agent who posed as a buyer.
Seized from Valencia were a small plastic sachet and three medium sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 0.5 gram and with an estimated value of P3,750, a brown coin purse and a cellphone used during the transaction.
Campomanes yielded an improvised all-weather glass tooter with suspected shabu residues and a disposable lighter.
The illegal drug operation was witnessed by officials of Barangay Zone I and local media workers.
Abad said they have long been monitoring the activities of the suspects, who were included in the area’s drug watchlist.
Citing reports from local informants, the two are considered as “big time†peddlers of shabu and usually conduct their transactions at a night club in the area.
“We’re currently determining the suppliers and other possible cohorts of these suspects,†she said.
The suspects are temporarily detained at the PDEA-12 headquarters here pending the ongoing investigation and filing of formal charges.
Abad said Valencia will be charged for violation of Sections 5 and 11 or sale and possession of dangerous Drugs, and Campomanes for Section 12 or possession of drug paraphernalia, under Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
