GenSan cop’s ambush-slay linked to drugs
« on: May 05, 2020, 02:17:29 AM »
GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Investigators are looking into several angles, including illegal drugs, as behind the killing of a police intelligence officer by suspected hired gunmen over the weekend.

Insp. Dominador Soliva, deputy chief of city police precinct number 05, said Monday initial investigation showed that the murder of Police Officer (PO) 3 Clark Bachoco early on Sunday could be “work-related.”

Bachoco, who was the precinct’s intelligence chief, was on his way home aboard a motorcycle to Dona Soledad Subdivision in Barangay Apopong at around 2 a.m. when he was waylaid by unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen.

Upon reaching the vicinity of the New Bohol satellite market along the national highway in Barangay Calumpang, the tailing suspects suddenly fired at the police officer.

The victim reportedly died “on the-spot” due to four gunshot wounds on the side and back of his body.

Soliva said Bachoco had just left their precinct in Barangay Tambler when the incident happened.

He said the victim earlier joined a saturation drive conducted by their precinct that lasted until midnight.

The police official said the slain police officer had no known enemies and did not confide or report any threat on his life prior to the incident.

But Soliva said the victim could have gotten the ire of suspected criminals who were arrested in several operations in their area of responsibility these past months.

“As intelligence officer he had led various operations, including those related to illegal drugs,” he said.

The Police Regional Office-12 and the city police office have condemned the killing of the police officer and ordered a deeper investigation on the matter.

The Philippine flags at the city police headquarters in Camp Fermin Lira and its eight police precincts were raised at half-mast on Monday in mourning of Bachco’s murder. (AVE/PNA)
