The Department of Trade and Industry led by Undersecretary for Industry Promotion Group and current Chair for ASEAN 2017 Committee on Business and Investment Promotion (CBIP) Nora K. Terrado (seated; 2nd from left) signed a tripartite partnership with Philippine Commission on Women represented by its Executive Director, Emmeline L. Verzosa (seated; 1st from right) and Women’s Business Council Philippines, Inc. (WomeBizPH) represented by its Chairperson and current Chair of ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN) Pacita U. Juan (seated; 1st from left) to organize the ASEAN Women's Business Conference which is one of the 50th Anniversary Commemoration Events of ASEAN in 2017 supported by CBIP. The signing was held at the DTI International Building in Makati City on 1 February 2017. Through this partnership, an AWEN Steering Committee is formed to oversee all activities related to ASEAN Women and to organize the ASEAN Women’s Business Conference, a five-day conference that aims to provide an avenue for strategic dialogues between ASEAN, the private sector, and dialogue partners in advancing the women's economic empowerment agenda. It is specifically expected to showcase how women are crucial partners in trade, leadership, and entrepreneurship, among others, supporting the goal set by the ASEAN Economic Community. Anchoring the ASEAN 2017 theme, “Partnering for Change, Engaging the Worldâ€, the AWEN Business Conference 2017 scheduled in August will be highlighting the theme, ASEAN Women: Leading Change. This will be supported by the three sub-themes: Women's Economic Contribution to ASEAN; Women in Trade and Inclusive Business; and Women and Human Capital Development.
