TUGUEGARAO CITY -- A former vice mayor of Amulung town in Cagayan province was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen at around 6 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay Carig here, police said.
Superintendent Edward Guzman, city police chief, said former Vice Mayor Alexander Pascual succumbed to several bullet wounds. He said the suspects were riding a black Mitsubishi adventure with no plate number.
Pascual was on board a motorcycle on his way to the Department of Education (DepEd) in Region 2 when gunmen shot him. Investigators found five empty shells of .45-caliber pistol from the scene.
Guzman said investigation is ongoing. Pascual was a one-term town vice mayor from 2013 to 2016. (PNA)
