Filipino on business in Mumbai is under treatment for minor injuries sustained when an explosion today hit the luxury Oberoi Hotel, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported.
The DFA did not release his identity, but noted that he is apparently one of five Filipino nationals officially reported as affected by at least two explosions in the Indian financial district of the former Bombay.
The other four are married couples, unhurt, but nevertheless given assistance and “evacuated to safety†through the Philippine honorary consulate-general in Mumbai and the Philippine embassy in New Delhi.
The two men, whose names were not revealed, were workers at the Tiffen Restaurant in the Oberoi, which was among the buildings targeted for bombing by alleged Muslim militants.
Their respective wives have just arrived in the city for a visit.
DFA spokesperson Claro Cristobal said both the embassy and consulate-general “maintain contact with the five Filipinos and will provide assistance as needed.â€
