The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Tuesday condemned the killing of a Filipino seafarer by Somali pirates.
In a statement, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said: “We express outrage over this senseless disregard for human life and we condemn in the strongest possible terms the atrocity of the Somali pirates. We are saddened by this tragic incident and deeply condole with the family and relatives of the deceased Filipino seaman.â€
The slain Filipino seaman was identified as Farolito Vallega who was shot last Jan. 26 on board the cargo ship M/V Beluga Nomination.
