MANILA, Philippines – Several months after China imposed death penalty thru lethal injection to three Filipino drug mules, another Pinoy is now facing death penalty over the same case on drug trafficking in China.
The 35-year old Filipino is convicted on drug trafficking case after the Chinese authorities confiscated 1.495 kilograms of heroin from him in Guangxi, China in 2008.
Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) however did not disclose the name of the new Pinoy convict but confirmed the High People’s Court of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has informed the Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou last November 28 about the affirmation from the Supreme People’s Court in Beijing on the lower court’s decision to execute death penalty to the convict.
“The High People’s Court (HPC) of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region informed the Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou on November 28 that the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) in Beijing affirmed the lower court’s decision on the carrying out of the death penalty to a Filipino national convicted of drug trafficking,†DFA said.
Execution of death penalty to the aforesaid Pinoy is scheduled on December 8, 2011. --
