An Australian citizen has alleged a
Filipina call center agent for attempting extortion saying the agent sent him an email to pay her 60 dollars so she can reverse some charges off of his bill. He alleged that following his call to Telstra to inquire about his 557 dollar bills, he was offered a reduced amount of 99 dollars if he paid her an extra 60 dollars.
The Australian blames outsourcing for the incident while Telstra management explained that it has nothing to do with location, that the company upholds the same consistent high standards to their clients regardless of location. The company defended that the incident was an isolated case and that they have taken necessary measures to ensure it does not happen again.
