Filipana Nursing Student Raped by Construction Workers
« on: September 26, 2007, 03:00:51 PM »
This sketchy report has not come out in major dailies.
Perhaps this story will be published tomorrow.
I won't name names.
I won't also tell you the source of this story
for security reasons.
And of course I won't mention the name of the school
where the rape took place.

A nursing student in Cebu was raped by construction workers
inside the toilet/comfort room at the school compound.

I don't know who the rapists are but I am furious when I
learned of the story.

It's difficult to describe the pain the girl is going through right now.

Let's pray for her.

Oh, this has been quite the subject of heated debates in Cebuano forums, Mr Admin.

The girl, I believe, is a student at Cebu Doctor's. They say (some people in some forums) the school is denying that any such horrendous event happened. Some say that it really did happen, but that the girl was given hush money by the school administration--to preserve the school's reputation.

Again, this is from what I've read in some Cebuano forums.

I feel so bad for the girl. Rape is the worst, worst, worst offense against women.

Dapat ma lethal injection ning mga rapists.

Ate, the rape did happen. My future stepson is taking up nursing in this school.

I'm wondering why the media did not publish this story.

Mike, those men are lucky im not there. If i was remotely related to the girl, i will take a sundang and dungab them to death. NO woman deserves such treatment! To rape..is worse than to kill. They have taken her self respect, her decency, and her innocense.

They're construction workers, they couldnt afford a prostitute at some local go-go bar?? Walay reason for that uy...bad jud na sila. Dirty, nasty, guilty, and deserve to be killed. Someone needs to take a kriss and cut them in half...

Seriously tho, what is there to be achieved in raping a person??

Sexual pleasure? How disgusting...how can you have pleasure watching someone who is being ravaged and crying for dear self!? What kind of self respect does one have in performing such acts? How do they even plan things out like that?

She was in the bathroom--so that means these filthy vile pigs followed her....and flanked her. You cant tell me that there was NO ONE around at all to witness this? She was probably screaming and crying...and   there was no one around to help? No one to call for police aid at all??

Walang yata....sobra pood na uy.

There is a debate among Cebuanos right now, some are questioning the aunthenticity of the story. Some are starting to think these are just rumors. The girl needs to come out, and fight for herself, para ma priso ning mga tawhana.

Until then, puro ra mga hungihong ang ma dunggan nato bahin aning estoryaha.

PS. Admin, you're now officially older than I am, so I can't possibly be your Ate.

So I will call you Ethyl again.

It would be so hard for a rape victim to come out in public and tell her ordeal.

Dong: don't remind me, I get depressed thinking how close I am to being middle-aged... :'(

Admin: you can call me C2H4, that's my name here, masakpan unya ko sa akong mga gipang utangan kung i-mention nimo akong name...

Anyways, Mr Admin, the girl who got raped chose to stay quiet, it's how she copes. She has the right to remain silent or come out, she has the right to do whatever she thinks is best for her right now. But if she won't fight for justice, and have those rapists tried under the court of law, the media or anyone else, couldn't do it for her.

So, I don't think this story is coming out in the papers anytime soon. The victim is not talking. And the school is more than happy not to say anything about this.

i think part of it has something to do with our culture. rape victims feel that people see them filthy and people around make a big fuzz out of it. himoon tawng sumsuman sa storya. some people would add insult to the injury. some are scared for the family too. we cant blame them for not coming out.

The family needs to find out who the men are...so the victim's brothers and male relatives can make justice. The Visayan way. "Ulo sa ulo, mata sa mata, lawas sa lawas".

Miss Mari, I would never, ever think of blaming the girl for keeping quiet. She's been through enough hell already. My post was just in response to Mr Admin's wondering why the story hasn't come out in the media yet. And I said, it's probably because no one's talking...not the girl, not the school, and most especially not the criminals. So when no one talks, there's basically no story.

My landlady in CDO (when I was in hs) adopted a baby girl from her former student boarder. She was also a nursing student, coming home late one night after a class, raped by four estambays. She was from Davao. She only told my landlady and no one else. Later on, she found out she was pregnant. She didn't even tell her parents she was pregnant. Immediately after she gave birth, she left. My landlady never heard from her again. The baby is now about 10 yrs old.

Everyone reacts differently to trauma. Lahi lahi atong coping mechanism. The girl coped by forgetting it ever happened, and moving on with her life. She cannot be blamed for that. It's her life, after all. But if she won't talk, we can't go after the criminals or do anything.

That's all I'm saying.

Rape is a very real danger in our society, Mr Admin. Of all rape cases, maybe only 10% are reported. Sa giingon ni Miss Mari, tungod pud ni sa perception sa mga tawo nga sad-an ang biktima, nga imbes mo panig sa rape victim, mag blame naman hinuon. Look at what happened to that girl nga gi rape adtong US soldier sa Zamboanga, she was bombarded with criticisms...but she pursued her case, and won.

The weird thing is, rape is not even sexual in nature. It is basically driven by a man's need for control, to prove his strength, his manhood by subduing a defenseless woman.

Also, dako kaayo'g connection ang drugs aning mga rape cases. Sa Chiong case, the rapists were drug addicts. Sa Visconde massacre, the criminals were drug addicts. I saw an episode on rape victims on Magandang Gabi Bayan several years ago...one story was of a 50 year old woman, who got raped repeatedly for a period of time by her own son, everytime the latter got high with drugs. She couldn't bring herself to turn him over to the police because he was, after all, her son.

C2H4, you have an arsenal of shocking stories.

Oh, I wouldn't exactly call it an arsenal, Mr Admin. More like a collection or a collage of stories that have made an impact on me.

I can be quite ditzy but I do tend to remember the stories that affect the way I feel, the way I think, and the way I see the world.

With regards to this issue, I am sincerely hoping the girl survives this, and that she can still find it within herself to be happy someday.

God is just and fair and He will repay every evil thing done in this world.

Justice may not be achieved on earth, but on the Judgment Day, everyone will get his/her fair share of justice.
