Army, PNP operatives nab fake soldiers
Joint elements of the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division and Police Regional Office 11 arrested two suspects who posed as Army officers in an entrapment operation at Barangay Bagong Silang, Maragusan, Davao De Oro on June 1, 2022.
The arrested personalities were identified as Kristoffer Niño Somoza Mudlong who introduced himself as a military doctor with the rank of a colonel and Diana Grace Matarab who posed as a major under the AFP Nurse Corps.
Under the law, offenders can be prosecuted for violations of the Revised Penal Code’s Article 177 (Usurpation of Authority) for falsely representing themselves as soldiers and Article 179 (Illegal Use of Uniforms or Insignia), for wearing the Philippine Army uniform.
