The Commission on Audit (COA) wants the Mandaue City Government to demand P291,900 from a supplier that failed to deliver on time the four electric cars the city bought last year.
In its audit report, COA said the China Six Eleven International Sales was late by 105 days in delivering the 14-seater electric cars, which cost P2.7 million.
The purchase order sent to the firm on May 5, 2011 stipulated that the supplier shall pay a penalty of one-tenth of one percent of the electric cars’ total price for every day of the delay.
Mandaue City Legal Office Giovanni Tianero said the city has yet to ask the supplier to pay the penalty.
He said he still has to check some documents.
â€I’m considering asking them to explain the delay,†Tianero said.
Unless the city collects P291,900 from the supplier, “the amount will be due from the approving officials of the transaction,†the COA report warned.
