Three earthquakes of varying magnitudes -- two in Mindanao and one in Northern Luzon -- struck the country on Sunday afternoon, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its bulletin, the agency said the first quake with magnitude 5.2 occurred at 12:14 p.m. with its
epicenter located at 47 kilometers southeast of Don Marcelino town in Davao del Sur.
The tremor had a depth of 117 kms.
The second quake with magnitude 5.0 was recorded at 1:24 p.m. with its epicenter traced at 122 kms. northeast of Burgos town in Surigao del Norte. Its depth was estimated at 138 kms.
The third tremor with magnitude 4.4 occurred at 2:40 p.m. in Ilocos Sur. Its epicenter was traced at 38 kms. of Sta. Catalina town and the depth was estimated at 26 kms.
Philvocs said the quake was felt at intensity 3 in Sta. Catalina, San Vicente, Cauayan, and Vigan City, and intensity 2 in Bantay, Santa, Narvacan, Sta. Maria and Burgos.
