LEGAZPI CITY, July 1 (PNA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bicol regional office recently held a one-day advocacy forum for consumers towards a green community.
Jocelyn L. B. Blanco, DTI Bicol regional director, said consumers should adopt environment-friendly strategies and general behavioral changes to improve efficiency in the use of power, water, resources, reduce waste, and in turn, minimize adverse impacts on the environment and lead towards a green community.
In its recent forum held in Naga City, 130 participants from all over the region attended and learned from topics like “Awareness on Climate Changeâ€, “Energy Efficiency and Conservation Tipsâ€, “Waste Disposal & Managementâ€, and “Greening Strategies and Practicesâ€.
Blanco said the forum drew much interest from the participants since practical tips were taught, which they can use in their households and more so, share these tips to the rest of consumers when they do their advocacy efforts in their respective areas.
"DTI continues to capacitate consumer leaders because their support largely contributes to the progress of the economy," she said.
The DTI regional head challenged the Bicolano consumers to act as one and help the department and other government agencies to increase the relevance of consumers in the region.
Each of us should realize the important roles we play in ensuring that we live in a healthy and green environment," she said. (PNA)
