BALER, Aurora — Five municipalities in this province were declared drug-cleared and three others are expected to follow suit.
Col. Cosme A. Abrenica, provincial director of Aurora Police Provincial Office (APPO), said on Friday the towns of Dingalan, Dilasag, Dinalungan, San Luis and Casiguran were declared drug-cleared by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) after successfully complying with the parameters set forth by the oversight committee in accordance with the Dangerous Drugs Board resolution.
“The towns of Maria Aurora, Dipaculao and Baler are on process as those were already in the final phase of the clearing evaluation,” Abrenica said in an exclusive interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA).
Data showed that barangay drug affectation in the province was 91.39 percent or 138 out of the total 151 villages while 8.61 percent or 13 villages were unaffected.
As a result of the barangay drug clearing operations, a total of 82.12 percent or 124 barangays are now drug-cleared while 17.88 percent or 27 barangays are still affected.
Citing the data on drug surrenderers, Abrenica said 3,845 individuals voluntarily surrendered in the province.
Of this figure, he said 3,110 completed the community-based Bahay Pagbabago Reformation Program.
“Through reformation program with the help of the stakeholders, a total of 104 drug surrenderers are now working in government, others are engaged in business and some are presently working abroad,” Abrenica said.
He said that he ordered all chiefs of police in the province to submit all the necessary documents concerning their goal to achieve a drug free/cleared province.
“Once they met the requirements/parameters for the validation and declaration of drug-free status by the PDEA, or by the end of the third quarter, Aurora will be declared as drug free/cleared province towards a safer place to live, work, and do business,” the provincial police chief said. (PNA)
