TAGBILARAN CITY -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) here will be distributing drop boxes to different barangays in the city to gain information from the community.
This as Tagbilaran City Police Office (TCPO) acting chief Supt. Patricio Degay Jr. on Friday said that human intelligence has been one of the keys in keeping the peace and order in Bohol and they are eyeing to institutionalize the crowdsourcing of information to fight criminals.
"Makakatulong ang information para sa paghuli ng nga kriminal (information can help in capturing criminals),” said Degay in a phone interview.
Boholanos are known to extend information to the police, Degay said.
Recently, Boholanos gave the local police high performance and trust ratings.
With the trust, Degay wants to ask the public to give information to the police via the drop boxes.
All information will be treated with confidentiality and will be verified further, said Degay.
Drop boxes will also be placed in public areas such as malls, parks, seaport and airport.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office head Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino said there was zero incident during the successful ASEAN Maritime Meeting that ended here on Friday.
