Department of Homeland Security Under Secretary and Counterterrorism Coordinator David J. Glawe met with Secretary of Justice Vitaliano Aguirre II.
Manila, March 2, 2018 — U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Under Secretary and Counterterrorism Coordinator David J. Glawe and Secretary of Justice Vitaliano Aguirre II met today to discuss the strong U.S.-Philippine partnership to combat threats from terrorism and transnational organized crime. Their conversation reaffirmed our joint efforts to combat child exploitation, secure global aviation against terrorism threats, as well as identify and interdict criminals and contraband crossing our borders.
While in Manila, Under Secretary Glawe met with other key partners in the Government of the Philippines, including Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Interior and Local Government General Eduardo Año and leadership from the Anti-Terrorist Council, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the National Coastal Watch Center to identify ways to increase our collective security, facilitate secure trade and travel between the United States and the Philippines, and build on our successful cooperation as friends, partners, and allies.
