DA, Panglima Sugala LGU MOA Signing on Rural Agri-fishery Development (Mar. 1, 2022)
The Department of Agriculture (DA) strengthened its partnership with the Municipal Government of Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi in delivering agriculture and fisheries development programs and reducing poverty in rural areas.
Agriculture Secretary William Dar signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on March 1, 2022 with Municipal Mayor Nurbert Sahali and DA Regional Field Office (RFO) IX Executive Director Rad Donn L. Cedeño.
The partnership is made possible under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), DA’s poverty-reduction and agri-fishery rural development program.
Under the MOA, the Panglima Sugala Municipal Government will propose and directly implement sub-projects concerning infrastructure development and enhancement of rural agri-fishery enterprises.
The DA, as the executing agency of the PRDP, will review and act on the municipal government’s proposed initiatives. It shall also provide the Municipal Government with technical support and capacity building through its RFO’s Regional Project Coordination Offices, PRDP’s Project Support Offices, or the National Project Coordination Office.
“We are doing what we promised. We are not just talking, we are also doing,” Secretary Dar said.
Also in attendance during the MOA signing were DA Spokesperson and Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Noel Reyes and Planters Products President Mat Maderazo.
