LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- Two brothers tagged as leader and member of an organized cattle rustling group in Pangasinan were arrested in simultaneous operations conducted by the police on Sunday in Anda and Bolinao towns.
One of the suspects was identified as Wellington Odero, 38, the alleged leader of the cattle rustling gang called Odero group, who was arrested at 10 a.m. in his house in Barangay Mal-ong, Anda by elements of the Bolinao and Anda police.
Arrested by the police earlier at 8 a.m. in Barangay Samang, Bolinao was Darwin Odero, 34, Wellington's younger brother.
The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office said the police were armed with arrest warrants issued by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Arginald Julius Esguerra of Branch 54 in Alaminos City.
The suspects' cattle rustling group is believed to have been operating in Bolinao and other parts of western Pangasinan.
Wellington was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions docketed as Criminal Case No. 7807-A. He remains in police custody pending his paymentof PHP200,000 bond for his provisional liberty.
Meanwhile, Darwin Odero is also facing illegal possession of firearms charges under CC No. 7799-A and illegal possession of marijuana under CC No, 7800-A.
He has yet to post PHP120,000 bail bond for the first case and another PHP200,000 for the second case. (PNA)
