GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Police have sought for the immediate deportation of four undocumented Indonesian nationals who were caught on Wednesday afternoon in the coastal town of Glan in Sarangani Province.
Chief Insp. Neil Wadingan, chief of the Glan municipal police station, said Friday they found the Indonesians aboard a motorboat that docked at a portion of Barangay Burias at around 12:30 p.m.
He said they responded to the area after receiving a report from concerned residents regarding the presence of the foreigners.
The Indonesians were identified as Pian Mangumpaus, Sarol Udingan, Phaisal Tatale and Arif Udingan, who claimed to be fishermen from Petta, Tabukan Utara sub-district of the Sangihe Island district in North Sulawesi province, Indonesia.
“They did not carry any passport and related documents so we took them in our custody,” Wadingan said in a radio interview.
The police official said they immediately reported the matter to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) station in Glan for proper action.
BI personnel referred the case of the Indonesians to the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency for the verification of their identities.
Pedrito Lopez, BI alien control officer in Glan, said the four were not included in their watch list.
But he said they coordinated the matter with the international police to determine if they were involved in terror and other related illegal activities.
Citing their investigation, he said the Indonesians arrived in the area aboard a motorboat earlier this week to purchase construction supplies in this city.
The four left for Sangihe Island last Wednesday but were forced to stop in Barangay Burias in Glan due to engine problem. (PNA)
