CEBU CITY, Aug.11 -- Operatives of Danao City Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit arrested four suspected drug pushers early Friday morning in separate buy-bust operations.
Gerry Gallon Jr., Velmar Lavador, Robert Angtod, and Jose Quilaton were arrested in a series of operations that started at 2:48 a.m. and completed past 5:00 a.m. Friday in the different barangays of Danao City.
According to Danao City Police chief Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, the four suspects yielded several packs of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with an estimated value of PHP2.3 million.
Pelare, who reported their achievements to the Police Regional Office-7 here, said the operation was part of the government’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs and part of Danao City Police’s “Oplan Limpyo Danao (Oplan Clean Danao).”
Pelare said the arrest of the four suspects was a big success for Danao Police as they have achieved their mission to cut the supply of illegal drugs in the city.
“The supply of drugs in Danao has significantly declined as we have arrested almost everybody involved in the illegal trade,” Pelare said.
However, he added that for as long as there are drug users, the selling of illegal substances would never stop. So, he also called on drug users to stop the vice and help them make Danao City drug-free.
Danao Police also confiscated the motorcycles of the suspects which authorities believe are being used for the drug operation. The suspects are currently detained at the Danao City Jail. (PNA)
