CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Sta. Cruz, Laguna – Operatives of the Laguna Provincial Intelligence Unit have recaptured one of the six inmates who bolted the Laguna provincial jail on Oct. 29.
Police Senior Inspector Gerry L. Sangalang, chief of the Laguna provincial police public information office, told PNA on Saturday that jail escapee Teddy Sarte Bucal, who is facing charges for hard drugs, was recaptured in Barangay Matalatala in Mabitac, Laguna at about 3:30 pm. of Nov. 2.
Sangalang said that during custodial debriefing, the arrested prisoner revealed that the M16 Rifle they grabbed from Provincial Jail Guards Norberto Malabanan, whom they shot during the jailbreak, was left in the grassy portion of Barangay Maahas in Los Baños, Laguna.
Sangalang added that after the custodial debriefing, a Laguna investigating team was dispatched, together with the arrested prisoner to Barangay Maahas in Los Baños, to recover the M16 Rifle.
The police team were able to recover the M16 (5.56) Rifle with Serial Nr. RP165841 ELISCO with its chamber loaded and the inserted magazine for M16 Rifle loaded with 19 live ammunitions around 5:50 p.m. on Nov. 2.
The recapture of Bucal brings to four the number of escapees re-arrested.
Another escapee Verjust Dizon, who is facing charges also for illegal drugs has surrendered to the Sta. Maria, Laguna chief of police Superintendent Raniel M. Balones on Nov. 1.
Two other escaped inmates Rhandel Valle, facing a murder case; and Rommel Macaraig, who is facing a case of carnapping and illegal possession of explosives, were also recaptured by Cavite joint police operatives on Oct. 31.
Police has continued their manhunt operations against the remaining two escapees identified as Rio Mahilom with a case of illegal possession of firearms, and Rayman Raymundo for murder. (PNA)
