BORACAY ISLAND, AKLAN, Aug 8 -- The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Malay has honored and extended financial aid to the family of a fallen Malaynon hero who died on the battlefields of Marawi City  last June.

The financial assistance of PHP25,000 from the SB was turned-over to the family of Marine Sergeant Brian Tamboon during its regular session on Tuesday.

This is in line with the resolution passed by the SB to give the highest commendation and deepest sympathy to the family of the soldier. “He exemplified loyalty, bravery, and courage in the battlefields of Marawi,” the resolution stated.

The 33-year-old marine sniper, a native of Barangay Caticlan was killed in Marawi by an enemy’s bullet on June 29.

Bertiny Tamboon, Brian's father and a retired member of the Philippine Coast Guard, received the financial aid from the SB.

The emotional Bertiny thanked the SB during the session for recognizing his son’s heroism.

He said the financial support will be helpful for Brian’s wife and two children based in Zamboanga. (PNA)
