CEBU CITY -- Police rescued two drug-pushing minors while their supervisor eluded arrest in Barangay Sambag 2, this city Monday night.
Operatives of the Fuente Police Station successfully rescued the two girls, aged 16 and 17 respectively, while transacting with a poseur buyer around 9 p.m. Monday.
Their supervisor, who was not a resident of the barangay but was renting a room in the neighborhood, got away and was pursued by police in a follow-up operation in a lodging house in Barangay Sto. Niño, but managed to escape.
Fuente Police chief Ma. Theresa Macatangay and her men recovered 11 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” worth PHP129,000 from the possession of the two girls, who told police they get their supply from Barangay Duljo-Fatima -- known bailiwick of the late drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz.
Macatangay said this only proves that pushers are now exploiting minors in their operations.
The two girls, who are considered as street-level pushers, are now in the custody of the Fuente Police Station.
As they are still minors, Macatangay said they will wait for the Department of Social Welfare and Development to determine if cases can be filed against the teenage girls. (Michelle Bugtai/PNA)
