EXTENDING HELP TO OUR HEALTHCARE FACILITIES
Press Release: Recognizing the need to augment our current health care system, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago immediately responded to the call of Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, and wasted no time to work on the conversion of existing PPA quarantine facilities into isolation centers.
Two existing quarantine facilties of the DOTr and PPA shall be converted into Isolation Facilities for patients who tested positive for Covid-19.
The Eva Macapagal Super Terminal in Pier 15 , which was converted into a COVID-19 Treatment Facility equipped with medical requirements for treatment of COVID-19 patients, has a total of 211 cubicles, distributed in different zones to accommodate patients with mild, advanced, and severe COVID-19 infections.
The facility is also equipped with hospital beds, portable toilets, cargo containers for showers, and open-air dining facilities.
Meanwhile, the Port Capinpin Quarantine Facility in Orion, Bataan has a 124-bed capacity, which encompasses 25 cubicles intended for high-risk individuals, and separated by a fully-equipped Nurse Station. Further, two rooms with 12 bunk beds each are also allotted for medical frontliners.
The initial commissioning of Eva Macapagal Super Terminal and the Port of Capinpin as quarantine facilities was undertaken through the donation made by the Lopez Group of Companies.
Slated to be operational by 09 April 2021, with stringent health and safety protocols in place, the isolation facilities are now ready to serve the needs of our kababayans.
