The Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL) successfully conducted an orientation and lecture on Gender and Development (GAD) as part of the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children. The event was held at the CGDSTL headquarters in Brgy. Sta. Clara, Batangas City.
The lecture was facilitated by Mr. Joel B. Gaona, the GAD Focal Person from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Office. His comprehensive presentation focused on key topics, including the importance of gender equality, legal mandates, the social dynamics of violence, and the crucial role of Coast Guard personnel in safeguarding the rights and safety of women and children.
The activity aimed to raise awareness and empower participants to take an active role in preventing violence against women and children. It also underscored the Coast Guard's unwavering commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all, particularly vulnerable groups such as women and children.
This orientation marks a significant step in equipping Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to address gender-related issues and uphold the principles of equality, protection, and inclusivity in their daily responsibilities.
