Oso: Catholic church remain steadfast against same sex marriage
ILOILO CITY, July 1 (PNA) -- Jaro Archdiocese Social Action Center Dir. Meliton Oso said that the Catholic church doesn’t change its stand against same sex marriage despite the recent move of the United States Supreme Court ruling giving same-sex couples the right to marry in all 50 states.
Monsignor Oso further expressed personal fear with Filipinos being known as great imitators especially of those from America including this ruling.
â€In my opinion this is the beginning of the extinction of human race,†Monsignor Oso said. He explained that one of the main purposes of the creation of man and woman is for procreation which same sex marriage could not realize.
He added that humans are not only political beings but also religious beings and by being so they are guided by the Biblical teachings. Dignity has also to be preserved “because we were created in likeness of God.â€
He said that the rights of individuals is not absolute for it has limitations.â€While we respect choices of people but it could not be for society to have the same sex as its foundation,†Monsignor Oso said.(PNA)
