Cagayan de Oro dads enacts 93 ordinances in 6 months
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 12 (PNA) -- Legislators here had enacted a total of 93 local laws through approved ordinances in six months from July to December 2016, City Vice Mayor Rainier Uy said Thursday.
Uy, who chairs the city council, said that the ordinances were hammered during the 22 regular session from July 2016 toward the end of December 2016.
The major legislations included penal and regulatory ordinances, which focused on the health and welfare of the city’s residents.
For instance, Uy said, the City Ordinance No. 13102-2016, regulates all smoke-belching vehicles plying and traversing the territorial jurisdiction of the city.
Another ordinance, Ordinance No. 13121-2016, prohibits any person from selling and retailing unsafe and sub-standard petroleum products using plastic bottles, jugs, and similar containers.
Uy said that one of the most important ordinances was the approval of the City Ordinance No. 13178-2016, which consolidated all local laws otherwise known as the Comprehensive Socialized Housing Program of the city government.
He said that the local legislators also approved Ordinance No. 7783-2001, which increases the rates of financial assistance to victims of calamities while Ordinance No. 13129-2016 approved the closure and the rehabilitation of the city’s dumpsite in the village of Carmen here.
Uy said that the city council also approved Ordinance No. 13130, which spelled out the 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan of Cagayan De Oro for the calendar year 2014 t0 2024. (PNA)
