Tagum City officials and employees and personnel of St. Peter Life Plans (SPLP) on Monday planted hundreds of tree seedlings at the city’s 30-hectare botanical garden in Barangay San Agustin.
Mayor Rey Uy and SPLP president York Vitangcol led the tree-planting activity around 9 a.m. to jumpstart the greening program between the city and the life insurance firm, said Edwin Lasquite of the city information office.
Lasquite said the event “was part of the three-year partnership†between Tagum City and SPLP in developing the upland San Agustin village into the city’s Botanical Garden.
“The company has pledged to plant a big portion of the 50-hectare Botanical Part with different tree species as part of its corporate social responsibility program,†Lasquite said.
