Bohol Sends Rice For Typhoon Ondoy Victims
« on: October 11, 2009, 01:30:48 AM »
THE provincial government of Bohol has allocated P200,000 for the purchase of National Food Authority (NFA) rice for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy in Metro Manila and Luzon delivered Thursday to the Malacañang Disaster Relief Operations Center for repacking and distribution.

Gov. Erico Aumentado disclosed that the provincial government through National Police Commission Region 7 Director Bernardo Calibo, Bohol Association in Metro Manila, Inc. (BAMMI) chair, withdrew the rice from the NFA warehouse in Metro Manila and delivered it to the Malacañang Disaster Relief Operations Center . The provincial government has paid for the rice through the NFA Tagbilaran Branch.

The governor also mobilized all municipal mayors, the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD) and the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Bohol chapter whose board he chairs, to solicit relief goods for the typhoon victims.

He urged the Boholanos to respond to the humanitarian call as a thanksgiving to the Lord who has always spared the province from natural and man-made disasters during his term from 2001 until at present.

Meanwhile, the Bohol Chronicle and radio station DYRD, in tandem with Msgr. Leonardo Medroso, bishop of Tagbilaran, is also launching a similar humanitarian drive for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy in Metro Manila and Luzon.
