BFP-NIR seeks delivery of new fire trucks for Region 18

DUMAGUETE CITY, March 9 (PNA) -- The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in the Negros Island Region (NIR) or Region 18 has called on the logistics office in Manila to inquire as to why no fire truck has arrived yet for the region.

BFP NIR regional director Sr. Supt Fred Trajeras, Jr. said he is hopeful the Austrian-made Rosenbauer fire trucks will arrive this month for the 17 cities of NIR, because funding for these had been assured since last year by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).

Trajeras appealed to local chief executives of the concerned local government units where these fire trucks are intended to make a follow up letter-request addressed to the fire chief, who is incidentally retiring this July.

Of the 17 fire truck units, three are intended for Negros Oriental specifically for Guihulngan, Canlaon and Dumaguete City, according to Sr. Supt Trajeras, Jr. who graced the inauguration and blessing of the fire sub-station located in Daro, Dumaguete City Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the BFP regional director has instructed the city fire marshal of Dumaguete, Chief Inspector Mary Joy Candelario, to already submit names of applicants for Fire Officer 1 as part of the 100 quota for FO1s intended for the entire region this year.

Trajeras directed Candelario to make sure the applicants are residents of Dumaguete so they will not be assigned in other places.

They will take the place of eight firemen being reassigned to the newly inaugurated fire sub-station.

On the other hand, City Mayor Felipe Remollo wants to fast track the processing of requirements for the construction of a new BFP building to be situated near the government center.

BFP regional director Sr. Supt Trajeras told Mayor Remollo that a donation of 600 square meters of lot is the only requirement so funding of up to P19 million can be allocated for the construction of the BFP building in Dumaguete.

This is part of the P2-billion budget appropriated for such purpose. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
