Seven persons were injured when the truck they were riding in hit a mountainside before flipping upside down on the road in Gambang, Bakun, Benguet, some 45 kilometers north of Baguio City, at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police Senior Superintendent Benjamin Losad, provincial director of the Benguet Police Office based here, said initial investigation showed the driver, identified as Melanio Limon, lost control of the vehicle (RJA-107) after it developed faulty brakes.
The victims, who were bound for a public consultation in a mining exploration in that town, were brought to various hospitals in Benguet province. All are now out of danger.
The mishap was the second to happen in the area in a span of three days.
The first involved a passenger jeepney in Sagada, Mountain Province, which overturned after hitting a rock.
In that accident, 17 passengers were injured, but were already discharged from the hospital where they were brought. (PNA)
