BCDA eyes BGC-NAIA bus rapid transit tunnel by 2019

MANILA, Dec. 18 (PNA) -- The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) targets to complete its bus rapid transit (BRT) system project by 2019, BCDA President and CEO Vivencio Dizon told reporters.
Dizon said the project was, eyed to be a BRT tunnel which will connect Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1, 2, and 3.
He added the feasibility study for the BGC-NAIA BRT tunnel would start by first March or April next year by China Road and Bridge Corp. (CRBC).
The BCDA chief said that the feasibility study of CRBC was among the Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) signed by the state-owned corporation during the state visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in China last October.
Once the feasibility study is done, the detailed engineering design for the project will follow.
Dizon said the construction of the BRT tunnel would take about two years.
“By 2019, we can have our BRT system from BGC to NAIA and vice versa,†he said.
Dizon said that there would be no concerns for the right of way for the BRT project as the BGC and NAIA properties were all BCDA assets. (PNA)
