A magnitude 4.8 earthquake jolted parts of Batanes on Saturday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake’s epicenter was traced 34 kms S 76° E of Basco, Batanes.
The tremor, which was tectonic in origin, was recorded at 9:39 p.m. It has a depth of 33 kms.
The agency said that Intensity 4 was felt at Uyugan, Batanes while Intensity 3 felt at Basco, Batanes.
Phivolcs said there was no initial report of damage or casualty from this tremor and no aftershocks from the earthquake. - PNA
