COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) targets to finish the planned 100-bed capacity patient care canter (PCC) for 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) within the next three weeks.
This was bared by BARMM Cabinet Secretary and regional Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Covid-19 spokesperson Mohammad Asnin Pendatun during a virtual presser here Tuesday.
BARMM's Ministry of Public Works (MPW) started the construction of the PCC early this month, which is located near the Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.
“According to the MPW, we will finish the construction in three weeks,” Pendatun said.
Pendatun also announced that the Bangsamoro IATF is “leaning towards the direction” of using rapid testing kits in the region, with consistencies from the guidelines set by the national government.
“This is an option of the IATF to procure rapid test kits, however, the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing will still be the sole basis and standard for testing Covid-19,” Pendatun added.
He noted that the region’s Ministry of Health (MOH) will request a portion of the incoming rapid test kits from the national government soon.
Currently, the BARMM has a total of nine Covid-19 confirmed patients, an additional of one patient from last week’s eight cases.
The ninth patient, PH 6367, a female resident of Marawi City with no recent travel history, had her laboratory result released on April 17, 2020. She is currently admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro City.
As of Tuesday, BARMM has zero probable and 235 suspected Covid-19 cases. (PNA)
