DAVAO CITY – The biggest exposition of construction and machinery products will open on Friday, September 8, at the SMX Convention Center where 600 brands will be on showcase.
This will be the 8th exposition launched by PhilConstruct and the 11th for the Machinery show outside of Metro Manila, said Patrick Lawrence Tan, chief executive officer of Globalink Events International, Inc.
Tan said 500 brands will be exhibited by PhilConstruct and 100 for the machinery expo.
Tan said it will be the first in Davao City to put up an outdoor display of 70 huge types of machinery and construction equipment, which are brought in from Manila, China, South Korea, Germany, and Europe.
These are the latest equipment that will be shown to the contractors to see the actual machinery that they might be interested to acquire, Tan told reporters during the business forum at DermPath on Tuesday.
Tan explained that the show is to bring in the sellers and the buyers together where they could discuss, build linkage and come up with partnership, rapport and later become business partners. It is also an opportunity for the contractors to check the latest equipment for their infra projects.
Michael Te, president of the Davao Contractors Association Center, Inc. (DCACI), said he is looking forward to the exposition because it is in this event where they get the latest technology, build connection with suppliers.
He said there will be seminars and workshops alongside the shows to equip contractors the basic knowledge in construction safety, building laws, taxation, labor and the basic principles of the construction business.
Te said the DCACI has about 150 members who are accredited by the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB).
Meanwhile, Tan said there will be four trade events which will take place namely the PhilConstruct Mindanao spearheaded by the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA), Philconstruct Events Exhibitions and Conference Corp (PEECC), and Davao Constructions Association Center, Inc. (DCACI); the HVAC/R Mindanao for the ventilating air conditioning and refrigerating by the Philippine Ventilating, Airconditioning and Refrigerating Engineers (PSVAE); the Manufacturing Technology Davao (MTD) by the Philippine Society of Plumbing Engineers (PSPE); and Pack Print Plas (PPP) Davao by the Philippine Plastics Industry Association (PPIA), and Philippine Center for Print Excellence Foundation.
Among the invited guests during the opening ceremonies are Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) president Capt. Ronaldo Go, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assistant secretary Art Boncato. (Digna D. Banzon/PNA)
