Metro Manila felt the chills Tuesday morning as temperature drops to 19 degrees Celsius due to the fresh surge of northeast monsoon.
"The coldest was felt 5:35 a.m. at dawn when most residents are in deep slumber," Nonoy About, weather forecaster at the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Baguio was still nippy at 15 degrees Celsius.
The cold wind is still associated with the chilly temperature felt in early January, from the winds blown across snow-capped Siberian mountain into the country, known as the northeast monsoon.
A brief lull of NE monsoon was felt mid-January caused by the intrusion of easterly wave resulting in the rise of mercuries, About said, but chilly mornings can be expected in the coming days as NE monsoon has not yet reached its peak.
"It will get colder in early days of February, temperature is expected to dip at 18 degrees Celsius, at least in Metro Manila, in the mornings," he said. - PNA
