22IB unearths massive CNT arms cache in Sorsogon
The Army's 22th Infantry Battalion (22IB) of the 9th Infantry Division (9ID) captured a massive arms cache hidden by CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) at the hinterlands of Barangay Calpi, Bulan, Sorsogon on April 21, 2022.
Operating troops of the 22IB unearthed a container drum containing the arms cache which includes two M16 rifles, eight thousand ammunition, 72 magazines, propaganda materials, and subversive documents. It can be recalled that 9ID troops also captured CNT war materiel in separate operations on April 18 and April 20 at the towns of Mobo and Pio V Cruz in Masbate.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded 22IB troops for the capture of massive arms cache that could be used by CNTs to commit atrocities and extortion activities during the election season.
