SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique -- Antique Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao on Tuesday said that her election as the Visayas Regional Development Committee (RDC) chair is a way to push more infrastructure projects for the province.
Cadiao, who admitted that the unanimous decision to elect her came as a surprise last August 25, added she is happy to serve other provinces in the Visayas island composed of Western, Central and Eastern Visayas.
“This is also a great opportunity because the Senate Committee on Finance is chaired by an Antiquena Senator Loren Legarda and me as the Visayas Regional Development Committee chair,” she said.
She added that the new position will keep her away at times from her office to attend meetings in Malacanang and in other provinces but that will be a chance for her to bring up proposed projects to the higher authorities, especially with the help of Senator Legarda.
The governor said the Visayas RDC, which meets quarterly, will provide support to the thrust of President Rodrigo R. Duterte particularly on interconnectivity.
Cadiao’s co-chair is Region 7 chair Kenneth Cobunpue. They will serve for three years until 2019. (PNA)
