SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique -- Antique Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao on Monday released more than PHP500,000 loan to Antiquenos needing money to process their documents as they apply for jobs abroad.
Cadiao released the interest-free loans to 19 Antiquenos. The governor said that this is the assistance of the provincial government to the marginalized sector.
The recipients can repay the loan after three months of working overseas. The loan ranges from PHP15,000 to PHP35,000 and the applicant must be able to comply with documentary requirements of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Desk and the Provincial Planning and Development Office headed by Juliana “Julie” Cepe.
In an interview Monday, Cepe said the assistance is being extended so that the Antiqueno OFWs will stay away from loan sharks.
She added that another batch of OFWs will be granted loans within the year. (PNA)
