CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – The provincial government started on Thursday the simultaneous swab testing priority patients in the 24 towns of the province, Governor Daniel Fernando said.
In a statement on Friday, he said medical workers used the 100 test kits given by the Department of Health (DOH) where the specimens were prepared, labeled properly, and transmitted to the Lung Center of the Philippines for testing.
"The specimen coming from LGUs will be submitted to the Provincial Health Office-Public Health (PHO-PH) that will facilitate immediate packaging and transport of specimen to the Lung Center of the Philippines," Fernando said.
He added that the province is waiting for the arrival of equipment to formally open the Bulacan Covid-19 Center that will house confirmed patients.
Vice Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, also the provincial health committee chair, recommended for the province to have more isolation or quarantine areas by including hotels and resorts under the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act or the Republic Act No. 11469.
So far, there are four patient care centers in the province to accommodate Covid-19 cases.
These are the new building of the Bulacan Medical Center, MAB building in Barangay San Pablo here, the College of Social Science and Philosophy building of the Bulacan State University-Main Campus and the Provincial Government of Bulacan-Governance Center.
Aside from patient care centers, isolation units at the Bulacan Medical Center, Baliwag District Hospital, Calumpit District Hospital, Emilio G. Perez District Hospital, Gregorio del Pilar District Hospital, Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial Hospital, San Miguel District Hospital and the newly-built Bulacan Medical Center Emergency Quarantine Facility are already operating under the provincial government.
Meanwhile, six more positive Covid-19 patients have recovered after they tested negative for the virus on Thursday.
This brought to 12 the total number of recoveries in the province.
Among those Covid-19 patients who recovered came from Guiguinto, Bulakan, Marilao, City of Malolos and Pulilan.
Based on the report from the Provincial Health Office, Bulacan has 104 confirmed Covid-19 patients with 24 deaths.
To date, the province has also 184 probable cases and 443 suspect cases. (PNA)
