The kidnapping group Abu Sayyaf, which is based in Basilan and Sulu, has owned responsibility for last night’s Batasan explosion that killed Basilan Rep. Wahab Akbar and two House employees

Radio station dzMM reported that a certain Abdul Musar, who claimed to represent Abu Sayyaf, told ABS-CBN’s office in Zamboanga City by text that his group was behind the blast.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Avelino Razon said they were looking into the claim, “though this Abdul Musar is not in our list of Abu Sayyaf members.”

He said the PNP did not receive any intelligence information that the Batasan would be bombed.

"We have not established that Congressman Akbar was the target that is still being investigated. We are looking into all angles,” he said.
