BACOLOD CITY-- A total of eight policemen and eight police units led the awardees during the 116th Police Service Anniversary rites of the Police Regional Office-18 held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. grandstand here on Tuesday.
Chief Superintendent Edmund Gonzales, director of PRO-18, led the ceremony which also honored stakeholders, including individuals, local government units, and non-government organizations who have been a partner of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In his message, Gonzales said police officers deserve recognition as they perform their duties, preserving and protecting lives and properties, and carrying enormous risks and sacrifices.
“This is especially in operation, particularly in the fight against all forms of lawlessness and illegal drugs. The lives of police officers are often at risk,” he added.
Gonzales also expressed his thanks to the stakeholders for being accommodating and very generous to the PNP.
The awardees were Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran Jr. and Superintendent Rhea Santos, Best Police Commissioned Officer for Administration and Operation, respectively; Senior Inspector Aireen Cordua and Chief Inspector Mark Anthony Darroca, Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration and Operation, respectively;
Senior Police Officer 1 Duane Aquino and Senior Police Officer 2 Tito Sia, Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration and Operation, respectively; Police Officer 2 Jerry Garcia Jr. and PO2 Christian Gacon, Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration and Operation, respectively.
Nicole Sitchon was awarded Best Non-Uniform Personnel, non-supervisory level.
Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NORPPO) was recognized as Best Police Provincial Office; San Carlos City Police Station, Outstanding City Police Station; and Bacolod City Police Station 5 as Best Police Municipal/Station.
The 1st Maneuver Company awarded Best Regional Public Safety Battalion Maneuver Company while the Negros Occidental Police Public Safety Company as Best Provincial/City Public Safety Company.
Best Provincial/City Women and Children Protection Desk awardee was the NORPPO WCPD while Best Provincial Strategy Management Unit was the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office PSMU. Bacolod City Police Office was recognized for Best Practice in Human Rights Affairs and the Project Double Barrel.
For Best Supportive Local Government Unit, recognized were the Province of Negros Occidental as Best Provincial/Highly Urbanized City; La Carlota City as Best Component City; Municipality of La Castellana as Best Municipality Category A (1st to 2nd class); and Municipality of Candoni as Best Municipality Category B (3rd and 4th class).
The 303rd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army led by Col. Elizer Losañes was recognized as Best Supportive Government Agency for Operations; Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital headed by Dr. Julius Drilon as the Best Supportive Government Agency for Administration; and Professional and Young Businessmen Against Crime led by Larry Dormindo as the Best Supportive Non-Government Organization.
