First Posted 17:05:00 01/10/2008TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines -- Eight fishermen from Eastern Samar earlier declared missing returned safely after 10 days of drifting in the Pacific Ocean, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) regional office reported Thursday.
The OCD identified the eight fishermen, all residents of the City of Borongan, as boat captain Nestor Sale, 43, brother Felimon, 26, Kerby Ricafort, 35, Gilbert Toral, 19, Billy Quitorio, 24, Leonardo Medrado, 36, Jose Lustre, 30, and Rogel Gaco, 30.
The eight, who sailed January 1, failed to return home and were declared missing.
Members of the Coast Guard in Borongan, Eastern Samar and other rescue groups set out to sea but could not find the missing fishermen.
