SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique, Aug 7-- There will be six municipal ports that will be constructed in Antique province, said Vice Governor Edgar Denosta on Monday.
Denosta said that the construction of the ports will be funded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) that sent engineers from Manila last week to discuss the plan.
The total funding for the Antique ports is estimated at PHP200 million. The port in Hamtic town will get the biggest slice as it was earlier identified as a provincial auxiliary port by a provincial board resolution.
Other ports to be constructed are in the coastal towns of Anini-y, Bugasong, Culasi, Pandan and Caluya.
The ports are important for the fishing boats as well as for the motor propelled passenger boats like that in Culasi for its three island barangays.
Denosta said that the municipal ports are also necessary now that the province is being visited by more tourist for its beautiful white beaches such as Mararison in Culasi.
